January was a quiet month for the most part; but now that we're in month two of 2012, things are starting to get a little interesting.
De-stabilizing perhaps.
Looking at what is starting to shape up in the Middle East between Iran and Israel, I have to wonder if we'll find ourselves in the midst of a world war.
God help us all if that happens.

So far, so good
Here we are on day two of 2012 and so far, so good! I haven't kept track (yet) on what's going on in other parts of the world, but here in North Carolina, life is going on as normal. The only exception is the mild weather we've been experiencing.
However, we still have all of January and February for old man winter to come roaring back with vengeance.

Someday
I just discovered this song/video today. It touched me since I've been struggling with various things lately.

There are times when I'm so weary of this life, of living in this body. I'm tired of struggling with feelings of guilt and remorse. I'd love to start all over again.

I believe in second chances in life. The key is not giving up. I'm who I am for a reason. I need to stop second guessing myself and my purpose for being in this world.

Losing My Religion
I've been thinking a lot about religion. Some say religion isn't truly alive, but faith is. People use religion to make sense of their lives. Faith is believing in something whether you understand it or not. Are they the same or not? If not, are they interdependent on one another or independent?
I've lived on this world for a little over 40 years now and I have to admit I have lost my religion (kind of like that song from R.E.M.); but, I still have faith.
Does this make any sense? Is this even possible?
My religion has been tied to church and churches are full of people; most of whom I can not relate to at all. They act one way on Sundays while the rest of the week their true colors come out. I have a hard time with this. I'm sure most people are probably not this way, but appearances and actions say a lot about a person.
Granted, humans are imperfect beings. Yes, I can accept that. I just wish that the people who feel they have to be "holier than thou" on Sundays to just be themselves. No one is perfect so don't act like you are.
People are probably the reason I've been turned off by church in general. This isn't necessarily a good thing, and I have to wonder how many others in this world feel the same way. Is this why people are leaving churches?
Have we lost our religion? Our faith even?

Rambling Thoughts
I've been mulling over particular phrases that I'm sure everyone has heard at least once in their lives. Phrases like "history repeats itself" or "for everything there is a season." Another one which I'm not sure is quite a phrase but more of a thought or an observation on my part or anyone who studies any kind of science or history is that one can see there is a cycle to everything on this planet. It has been said that mankind, or more specifically civilizations (especially various advanced ones) has/have been wiped out more than once, only to re-emerge and start over. Could this account for some who periodically feel they are somehow experiencing a deja vue feeling? That they have somehow been through this before? This leads up to a question that has been in my mind for a few days and I've yet to come up with an answer: Is it possible that some prophetic visions or dreams are actually memories instead?

My Somewhat Vague Theory About Man's Evolution
Everyone has their own belief system which also includes where did or how man came to be here. Many believe in the evolutionary process; others in creationism. Me, I consider some aspects of both to be true. So, what does that make me then? Is it logical to have more than one belief systems?
Evolution of Man
Lets begin by saying this: anything that is from or of this planet will share the same basic elements that are found in DNA. This is probably why most scientists conclude that Man evolved from apes/chimpanzees. For far too long they've been fixated on what is similar between the two or more species rather than wondering about the 1-2% difference which separates them. So, where does this difference come from?
Man: older than previous thought
There have been a string of recent research and findings that show Modern Man to be much older than previously thought. In this particular article a startling new finding indicates that Modern Man may have originated from Israel and not Africa. And there are still more out there waiting to be discovered like the possible site in the Persian Gulf. Scientists keep uncovering evidence that shows Modern Man to be much older than previously thought as well as being far more advanced hundreds of thousands of years ago when they should be more primitive. More definitive physical evidence and clues to the true origination of Man may likely be still buried deep underground or in the oceans which may never be discovered.
My theory?
Scientists have so far discovered that there are many different types of hominid species, but have not been able (at this time) to show definitively that Man did indeed come from the same gene pool as the primates.
My theory is this: I believe there were species similar to primates and other hominids who shared the same gene pool because they originated/emerged from Earth; but when Modern Man arrived (quite suddenly it seemed; possible theories are related to Creationism and Ancient Alien/Astronaut Theory) they (some) interbred with the dominant hominid species which was why scientific results show Modern Man sharing similar DNA information as the native hominids/primates. Sounds crazy? Perhaps. It would explain the differences in the development of various hominid species, and why the first civilizations seemingly appeared out of nowhere. Perhaps scientists should take a closer look at the 1-2% difference on our DNAs for I believe the answer lies there.
